The Mountains Won't Remember Me : Kashmir Diaries Part 2
Day 2(7 May 2012):
This was the first time
when I experienced a pony ride. Ya, pony for me because I was a little kid, I
got a pony to ride on, mom and dad got horses. So, I still remember the name of
my pony, his name was Raju. He was a quiet and well-trained pony. We were going to
Baisaran riding on horses. This place was popularly known as Mini Switzerland.
I distinctly remember the horse ride, I still wonder how those horses just
manage to climb twisty rocky paths, I was too scared that I will fall but Raju
was a master, he was quick and active. Hence nothing happened to me, I enjoyed
the ride. Baisaran was like a place on the hills where there was a lot of
greenery and there were huge pine and cedar trees all around, it was not at a
very high altitude but it was so beautiful, lush green grass to rest on and it
was sunny that day which made it best.
After spending a
splendid time there, we returned back again by pony ride, we returned to hotel
packed stuff drove back to Srinagar, there we went to visit a 1000-year-old temple known as Avantipur temple and that's a lord Vishnu temple. It was so
wonderful to know about history, honestly learning history in books and in real
life are way different. After that on our way to the hotel in Srinagar, we
spent time sitting on rocks by the bank of Lidder river and enjoying the cool
relaxing breeze, unlike other rivers it was so clean and it was flowing between
rocks and the water was so cold and pure. I collected many different stones
from there and I still have them with me.
