The Mountains Won't Remember Me : Kashmir Diaries Part 3
Day 3(8 May 2012):
We drove to Sonmarg
from Srinagar, it was 79.4 kilometres from Srinagar. To reach the mountain
top we again took a horse ride and we also hired boots for us as we were
finally going into the snow and normal shoes will get wet and spoiled. Sonmarg
means meadow of gold. There were a lot of snow sports and excitement there, but
me being me, even there I was eating hot Maggi and enjoying 😂😂😂 . I enjoyed the sledge ride
there. It's was so beautiful white snow everywhere, fresh river originating and
flowing through the rocky mountains, everywhere you see high mountains and a
very clear sky above, that freshness in the air said something else. I don't
know how to put that beauty into words. I even witnessed an avalanche there not
a huge destructive one it was a small one and was at a distance but ya I was
lucky to witness something new and exciting. After enjoying snow fights and
making snowman we headed back to Srinagar.
Its was early
evening by then and we went to visit Nishat bagh, okay now honestly I have
never seen this beautiful place in my whole life, full of beautiful and
colourful flowers, lush green grass, all cedar and pine trees at a distance and
looking up you will see huge mountains at a distance with a clear sky and a small pond with a perfect view of the sunset, I know I can spend hours looking
at that masterpiece. There we did some exciting things, we clicked pictures in
Kashmiri dress, it was a different experience. I even talked to some of the
local students there. I just wanted to bring that whole place to my front
yard.
After a whole day of
travelling, that place with a fresh and mild fragrance of the flowers gave all
the rest to the body and mind it required.
